Mio Fresh

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Many members of the Bellani community choose to use cloth diapers instead of disposables for the ease of use, economical benefits, as well it being an environmentally responsible practice. One question we always get is how to eliminate odors from cloth diapers that can sometimes linger even after laundering. Alas, we have a simple solution, straight from the UK…Mio Fresh. Mio Fresh is a biodegradable powder that is free of enzymes, synthetic perfumes, and chlorine bleach and uses the power of oxygen to remove odors and to sanitize your little one’s cloth diapers. All you have to do is add it in addition to your regular diaper detergent (we love Charlie’s soap and Bum Genius diaper detergent, hence why we carry them in our store!) It is also extremely concentrated which means you get more bang for your buck!

Cloth Diapering is Fun!!

I didn’t really think I would be saying this, but it is fun and addicting. Although I’ve only just started and my collection of cloth diapers isn’t too big, It’s fun deciding which one I’m going to put on him each diaper change. This is where the addiction comes in-I want more fun patterns and colors to choose from. Snaps or velcro, blue, green, polka dots, then all of them are made with different fabrics; microfleece, cotton velour-oh so soft on the bum- Swaddlebees and Blueberry just in blueberry2 8899pinksage-300 moonbeamAnother great thing about all the diapers I have is that they are one size, snaps on the outside of the diapers make them small, medium or large. His bum is so cute in them, Bellani just got baby legs in that match the Bumgenius diapers we currently have. Love it!

Bye Bye Disposables

Monday, October 27th, 2008

So, I have been thinking about cloth diapering long before my little man was even brought into the world. I went back and forth, cloth vs. disposable, of course, I wanted to do the right thing for his little bum and for this environment I was bringing him into. And it was obvious that the pros of cloth diapering outweighed the cons-but there was still that whole convenience factor that seemed to win. I had some cloth diapering materials-there is a lot to choose from, and very little knowledge about cloth diapering, so when my little man arrived the ease of the disposable WON. Now my little man is over 1 year old, I have guilt quite often about my decision ( especially when I take out the garbage). I kind of felt as if it was too late to make the switch, so much time had gone by, I could’ve saved all that trash and money. A couple of months ago I was helping a customer at Bellani with cloth diapers, she mentioned that her son was 15 months old and she was making the switch. She made some very valuable points, he was still going to be in diapers for maybe another year ? and she planned on having another child. Ah ha she would already have everything and I was inspired! I’m doing it! Now that the fear of not knowing- anything-when you have your first baby is gone, I now have a year of experience, and Bellani offers Cloth Diapering 101, I am going into this with a whole new confidence. The expense up front seems big, but it will save me in the future, I’m just thinking what If I had done this a year ago? I would be way ahead of the game.
