Countdown to Back to School Part 2

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

While I know most of you don’t have to worry about back to school time just yet in life, this time of year is typically a transition period for many families. As the summer (that just came) comes to a close, fall is right around the corner. Now is when I regroup and think about my goals for the next few months!

On my list:
Finish the new landscaping outside of our house
Smile more
Build the above photo before Thanksgiving:
Get The Boy a desk, and help him learn how to manage his time for long term projects

Ok, that’s enough. Sometimes setting too many goals paralyzes me. So what are your goals for the upcoming four months?

Words to Grow On

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

A beautiful couple, new to Bellani came in this morning to inquire about cloth diapers. We started to get off subject and talk about baby showers. They told me “honestly, we thought about cloth diapering to save money, but now have found a new appreciation for helping the earth”. So much in fact that at their baby shower instead of guests bringing a card with their gift, they brought a book. Inside the invitation was a bookplate for each guest to place inside the cover the book, write their name and a small note.

The couple received over 100 books! What a wonderful way to start a children’s library full of love. For more information, inspiration and where to order click here or here. If you have any ideas you would like to pass along, please let us know. -Shannon

Family Art Project

pearhead2I love everything about the Handprint Wall Art set by Pearhead. I love that the colors are fresh and funky. You can choose blue or pink set, both of which are loaded with vibrant colors, or a white set that come with primary colors for the paint. I love that you get 4 canvases to decorate with, making this a project that lasts past the newborn stage.

In my house we made all 4 as a family when Miss Z. joined us. For me, it was a project that got us all involved, and let me son participate in decorating his sisters room.

I especially love that this is an easy project to do for busy families!! Each set comes with four 10×10 canvases. To get started you just pour the provided paint in the included pan, press your child’s hand (or foot) into the pan, press the prints onto the canvas. Then, just let it air dry overnight and viola! You could give Oprah’s Nate a run for his decorating money with this project!!
